Chainmail Cast Iron Scrubber

A square of linked stainless steel rings for cleaning cast iron and carbon steel. Rub it over the pan under hot water and the rings knock off stuck-on food without soap and without stripping the seasoning you have spent months building.

That is the problem a chainmail scrubber solves. A scouring pad or washing-up liquid takes the seasoning off with the dirt; a sponge doesn't shift burnt-on bits at all. Smooth steel rings are hard enough to scrape and too rounded to scratch.
