Portable Stoneware Tea Set with Carry Bag

A five-piece stoneware gongfu set — one pot and four cups — in a padded carry bag. Gongfu is the Chinese method of brewing small volumes at high leaf ratios and pouring repeatedly, which gets far more out of good leaf than a single long steep in a mug.

The portable part is what makes this unusual. A proper tea set that travels means tea on a hillside, at a campsite or in a hotel room made the way it should be, rather than a teabag in whatever cup is available.

Why you'll love it

• Full gongfu set — pot and four cups, not an improvised kit.
• Travels — padded bag, sized to carry.
• Stoneware — holds heat, takes knocks better than porcelain.
• Serves four — a set to share rather than a solo brew.

Pack it dry. Stoneware sealed damp in a bag develops a musty smell that's very hard to shift once it's in the clay.
